About Us

CAPITAL OIL INC.

Capital Oil, Inc. is a family owned and operated business situated in the Jackson, Mississippi area. The founder, G. Stanley Roberts, initially entered the petroleum sector through his employment with G.C. Chambers, his father-in-law. Chambers held the position of a consignee for Gulf Oil overseeing the Bulk Plant in Newton, Mississippi, as well as the former Cappy’s on Third Street and the former Cappy’s on Hwy 35 S. both located in Forest, Mississippi.

Following the unfortunate passing of Chambers, G. Stanley Roberts made the decision to purchase the three locations operated by Chambers. In 1975, he officially took over the business naming the company G.S. Roberts Distributors and later changed the name to Capital Oil, Inc. in 1997. During this transformation, Capital Oil, Inc. relocated from Newton to Jackson, Mississippi. Over the years, the company experienced growth and expansion leading to additional entities such as Capital Fuel Center and Capital Lube & Tire. In addition to the new entities, the company continues to operate the original Newton Bulk Plant and its Jackson Wholesale branch. The headquarters of Capital Oil, Inc. are shared with Capital Transport, Inc. in Richland, Mississippi, further enhancing operational efficiency.

The current owner is Stan Roberts, Jr., son of G. Stanley Roberts and grandson of G.C. Chambers.

GC CHAMBERS

GC Chambers was born in the small rural town of Hillsboro, Mississippi, in 1912. He was one of eleven brothers and sisters, which taught him the value of “making it on his own.” He attended Forest High School where he was an outstanding football player. After high school, he immediately went to work at a Standard Service Station in Forest; fast forward ten years, he met his future wife Lizzie Mae Scarborough, who worked in the building behind the Standard Service Station. He later operated the Gulf Station on Hwy. 80, which was located across from the high school. This station became a landmark for many years. Until his death in 1974, his focus was always on developing a successful business to leave as his legacy.
